Mrs. Hammil's Apple & Cabbage Chicken

 

 

 

 

 

Mrs. Hammil fixes her own mom's favorite recipe, with bacon, onions, celery, and chicken.




Ingredients:

  • 8 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (about 3 lb.)
  • 2½ teaspoons kosher salt, divided
  • 1¼ teaspoons black pepper, divided 
  • ½ head green cabbage, shredded (about 8 cups)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves 
  • ½ cup apple cider
